KC Bruner grew up in a small town in Iowa, surrounded by a large family of 8 siblings and step-siblings, and the spirit of country music. “I grew up in a bar,” she says as her dad was a local-celebrity, spending evenings singing at gigs around Iowa. KC made her initial debuts growing up at his side, learning to sing at his shows and in his garage, where the family would hold parties singing and playing music for each other.
When she wasn’t singing in garages and bars, KC was spending her childhood at salons and barbershops – where multiple generations of her family worked. KC followed the footsteps of her mother and grandmother, moving to Nashville and going to beauty school before working full-time as a hairstylist – but really her heart called her to the stage.
After a health scare after moving to Nashville, KC realized that time in life is not gauranteed, and as long as she was healthy and able, she was going to work for her true passion and dreams. This led her to picking up her guitar, and posting the songs she’d been writing on a new Tik Tok account – so her friends couldn’t see her videos. But it wasn’t long before she started getting traction for her unique voice and storytelling songwriting, and before she knew it KC was signing a record deal and releasing her first songs.
In just one year, KC debuted her first few singles with nearly 800k total streams on Spotify alone. Not only that, but KC also sold out to hometown headlining shows, playing in front of a combined nearly 700 fans in Iowa.
KC stays true to herself and the country music she grew up – joking that she only listens to old county man music. She’s bringing classic, timeless and traditional country music to a new generation in a modern world.
